A Kambun shinto katana attributed to Edo Hojoji school. Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaki. Hawatare: 2 shaku 1 sun 5 bu, (65.15 cm or 25.65"). Motohaba: 3.21. Sakihaba: 2.08. Kasane: 6.1 mm. Gunome midare in nie deki, with the nie filling the valleys between the gunome. Sunagashi, ashi and yo, nado. Tight itame hada, ji nie, chikei. The boshi is komaru with hakikaki and a long kaeri. The nakago is ubu with one mekugiana. Fresh polish, shirasaya, niju gold and silver foil habaki, NBTHK tokubetsu kicho certificate from 1963. The sugata is that of Kambun shinto (1661 - 1673).
Edo Hojoji blades resemble the work of Kotetsu. In fact there are joint works of Hojoji smiths and Kotetsu. This time frame is correct for Hojoji Masahiro, and perhaps a new shinsa might make an attribution beyond that of a school.
