A Shinshinto Enju Muneyoshi wakizashi in period aiguchi koshirae. Signed, Enju Muneyoshi Saku, and dated, Bunsei Gen nen Kanotori Nen Go Gatsu (May, 1861, 58th year of the cycle) Hawatare: 1 shaku 1 sun 8 bu 8 rin (36 cm or 14.17"). Hirazukure, slight sakizori. Motohaba: 3.19 cm. Kasane: 7.4 mm. Brilliant habuchi, gunome and hako-gunome, ashi, yo, ha nie weak sunagashi, kinsuji, nado. Itame masame mijiri, ji nie, chikei, nado. Enju is out of Higo, and related to Mino den. He is from the Iwami Kiyonari Mon.
The saya is textured red lacquer over green nishiji lacquer some chipping and cracking, but it should be stabilized and preserved. The kurikata is missing The tosogu are en suite iron handachi mounts, the tsuka ito is baleen with some slight damage. The external menuki have been lost.
A healthy young blade, that is a good collectable that should be polished.
