Gimei Nobuyoshi Wakizashi
S0512
SOLD
An attractive ubu gimei wakizashi signed, Nobuyoshi Saku. Shinogizukure iroi mune chu kissaki. Hawatare: 1 shaku 6 sun 5 bu 6.6 rin (50.2cm /19.76"). Motohaba: 3.03 cm. Sakihaba: 2.22 cm. Kasane: 6.44 mm. Hiro gunome midare. Itame hada. Mounted in shirasaya with a niju gilt copper habaki. The hamon is similar to some of the works by Nobuyoshi, but it lacks the school's signature long yakidashi. The blade has a ware and two carbon inclusions, pictured below, that would have been evident with the initial polish, which may explain why the sword was not signed. I suspect that the signature is an owner's attribution because it is so poorly cut.
This a great piece for a newer collector, It is in relatively good polish, and is a good honest 17th century blade, $650
Ware and Two Carbon pockets in the Hamon.
