A fine shibuichi tsuba by the second generation Hamano Noriyuki. 6.93 cm x 5.96 cm (at the widest point) x 3.6 mm at the mimi. The shibuichi is a wonderfully rich dark gray, that the pictures do not do justice. Decorated in gold, shakudo, red copper, and silver zogan and drawn in keibori and katakiribori. The second generation Noriyuki was born in Kanda district of Edo in 1771, and died in 1852. He became a student of the first generation Noriyuki at the age of fourteen and was called Matsujiro, at seventeen he took the name Masakata. At the age of twenty-five he took the name Noriyuki, ten years after the death of the first generation Noriyuki.
