Handachi Mounted Katana

KK545

A much shortened koto sword.  Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaki, the sakizori starting closer to the mid point of the blade like those seen around Oei jidai (1393 -  14.28) . Hawatare  2 Saku 1 Sun 2 Bu  2 rin (64.3  cm  / 25.3").   The preferred length for Muromachi warfare.  The blade was cleaned with an abrasive, so detail are not cleat,  The high shinogi points to Yamato, so it is safe to say that the suguba is in nie deki.   There is no damage or evident flaws.

The tsuka has a Nagoyamono fuchi and silver menuki.  A very good sukashi tsuba.  The saya seems to have been spay painted gold over good  black lacquer.

An excellent beginner's 600 year old sword as it sits, or likely a decent collectable with a new polish.   Thus it is so priced                             $1,450
