An o-suriage katana attributed to Edo Hojoji Masahiro,. Shinogizukure, iroi mune, shallow sori, short chu-kissaki. Hawatare: 2 shaku 3 sun (69.69 cm / 27.44"). Motohaba: 2.98 cm. Sakihaba: 2.08 cm. Kasane: 6.3 mm. Nie deki gunome ko-midare in a hiro-suguba, ashi iri, sunagashi, kinsuji, ha nie, gifu, short nijuba, nado. The boshi is ko-maru with a short kaeri. Moist tight sparkling itame hada with profuse nie and chikei, masame in the shinogiji. Fresh polish, silver habaki, shirasaya, and kanteisho by Kajihara. The sugata is classic Kambun, which places this squarely as the work of the first generation Hojoji Masahiro. Rated Josaku in Nihon Toko Jiten - Shinto-Hen by Fujishiro; a double triangle in Nihon To Meikan; and valued at 5,500,000 yen in Toko Taikan by Tokuno; pictured in Nihonto Zuikan - Shinto Hen, and numerous other books on shinto swords.
