A large ubu mumei katana attributed to Noshu Seki Jumyo. Shinogizukure, iroi mune, o-kissaki. Hawatare 2 shaku 2 sun (66.66 cm / 26.25"). Motohaba: 3.08 cm. Sakihaba: 2.6 cm. Kasane: 6.6 mm. High gunome togare with deep valleys, in ko nie deki. The boshi is komaru. Ko itame hada. Horimono on the Omote: Sankaku yari with a banner reading Hachiman Daibo Satsu Kokka (nation). Horimono on the Ura: Bonji & Choho Kunshi Fuka Namura. Tenpo (1830-1844). Mounted with a niju gold foil habaki in black shirasaya. NTHK-NPO certificate with a 74 point rating.
Mino Jumyo were very popular as gift swords due to their reputation for being good luck. Although there are different lines and many generations starting in Kamakura times, and running into the twentieth century, the dating of this sword would indicate that he is the seventh master of the Ishikiri branch. $3,750
