Ishime Pine and Thistle Tsuba

A large, easily overlooked, moku tsuba. Ishime ground with sukashi of a pine needle and a thistle -- or maybe an opium poppy, and udadakeana. The plate is darker than pictured. 8.8 cm x 8.25 cm x 4.2 mm to 4.5 mm at the mimi. A good deep black, with large globular and lineal tekotsu. Although the tsuba is clean, it will come alive with a little scrubbing with a horse hair brush. $475.
