Small Kanayama sukashi tsuba 6.6 cm x 6.3 cm. (2.625" x 2.5"). Good plate with fine tekotsu. The one hitsuana has a shakudo sekigane, the other a gold sekigane. I have had a good deal of trouble identifying this tsuba, so I asked Skip Holbrook, who said, 'Very fine iron bones. The square construction of the seppa dai, and the fact that it gets thinner -- I'd say Kanayama. The owner really thought a lot of this tsuba.' By telephone he added that this is early Kanayama before they were making the heavier more functional pieces.
