An ubu zaimei wakizashi by Kashu Kanewaka.  Hawatare: 1 shaku 7 sun  5 bu (50.28 cm or 20.88").  Motohaba:  2.9 cm.  Sakihaba: 2.04 cm.  Kasane: 6 mm.  Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaki.  Notare with gunome and choji mixed in, very fine ko nie deki.  Bright, strong habuchi, kinsuji, sunagashi and small gifu. The boshi is a ko maru.  The jigane is a moist  hadatatsu itame nagare with ji nie and chikei.  In Japanese polish, mounted in shirasaya, with a gold foil habaki, NBTHK Hozon kanteisho.

He worked around Meireki (1655 - 1658).  He is rated as Jo Saku in Fujishiro's  Nihon Toko Taikan - Shinto Hen, and valued at four million yen in Toko Taikan.  He has a sharpness rating of Wazamono.  His signatures include: Kashu Ju Kanewaka, Kashu Aizu Ju Sujimura Matasuke Fujiwara Kanewaka, Toshi Gojusansai Tsukuru Kore, Etchu no Kami Takahira Sannan Kanewaka (the third son of Takahira), Etchu no Kami Takahira Nidai Kanewaka, and others.
