Minamoto Kiyomaro



A mounted shinshinto katana inscribed, Minamoto Kiyomaro, and dated Kaei ni nen ni gatsu hi (a day in February 1849).  Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu-kissaki  toriizori. Hawatare: 2 shaku 1 sun 7 bu 4 rin (65.9 cm / 25.94").  Motohaba:  3.21 cm.  Sakihaba:  2.3 cm.  Kasane:  6.5 mm.  O-gunome midare with choji and ashi iri with, saka-gunome, midare, hotsure, strings of hamon forming nijuba, nado.  The jigane is an itame masame mix.  In older polish.

The tsuka wrapped in black tsuka ito, the fuchi-kashira are shakudo nanako with a bird and plants with gold highlights.  The menuki are gilt copper plants.  The tsuba is a good large iron mokugata without decoration.  The saya is without damage with textured brown/black lacquer, and a silver kojiri.  The habaki is two piece, shakudo with gold foil.   


I will absolutely guarantee that this is a gimei Kiyomaro.  However, if it should turn out to be genuine, I will happily take it back and refund your money.   $3,300
