A mumei hirazukure tanto attributed to Kiyondo, one of the four students of Tamaki Kiyomaro.   Hawatare:  9 sun 5 bu  (28.79 cm / 11.33")  Motohaba:  2.62 cm.  Kasane:  6.1 mm.  Rated josaku in Fujishiro's Nihon Toko Jiten - Shinto Hen, Ten pages of illustration in Shinshinto Taikan, valued at 4,000,000 yen in Tokuno's Toko Taikan.  NBTHK Hozon Kanteisho. Mounted in shirasaya with high grade stepped habaki.

At the time of his death, Kiyomaro had taken on many contracts for blades, for which he had been paid in advance.  Kurihara Nobuhide, and to a lesser extant Kiyondo, took it upon themselves to fulfill their master's commissions.  Of course there is no way to tell with certainty, but that this is a mumei blade, might indicate that this was one such.
