An excellent, early kinko tsuba in very good condition. Gilt flowers and shakudo vines and leaves on a good nanako ground, of vertical rows. Gilt copper fukurin, and gilt sekigane. Late Muromachi to early Edo. Surprisingly, this is a sanmai tsuba, but of an age and quality not usually encountered. In this case, the construction was to save the costly shakudo, and not to just have a pressed out plate mirroring front and back. 6.73 cm x6.28 cm x 3.7 mm. $500.
