Ko Tosho Tsuba

TS0590

A large early ko tosho in excellent condition and excellent color.  Graining visible on the face and obverse.   The kozuka ana cut to accommodate an o-kozuka.  8.27 cm x 8.11 cm x 1.8 mm.  In Sasano examples, generally speaking, the tsuba from Kamakura tended to be either round, or slightly narrower width than height, while those attributed to Nambokucho tended to be either round or slightly wider than their height.  Further, the thinness of the plate  argues for earlier work.  Therefore, I believe that this is a product of the 13th century.
