A very large and healthy naginatanaoshi katana attributed to Ko Uda. Hawatare: 2 shaku 3 sun 9 bu (72.42 cm / 28.5"). Motohaba: 2.98 cm. Sakihaba: 2.86 cm. Kasane: 6 mm. Shobuzukure, iroi mune. The hamon is a suguba midare, with gunome, choji, small togare, ashi iri, ha nie, kinsuji, nijuba, nado. The jigane is a dark hadatatsu, pronounced masa-nagare, jinie, long chikei, yubashiri, nado. Mounted in horn trimmed shirasaya, with a niju silver habaki, NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon kanteisho.
The Uda school started in later Kamakura, and continued through Muromachi. Swords are divided into Uda, Muromachi period, and Ko-Uda, Kamakura and Nambokucho. $7,500
