Once again, the consignor wants to move on, so we have reduced the price to make it more appealing.
Newly out of the woodwork, a massive mumei shinshinto katana with sugata resembling Kambun shinto. Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaaki, shallow sori. Hawatare: 2 shaku 4 sun 8 bu 9 rin (73.3 cm / 28.85"). Motohaba 3.26 cm. Sakihaba: 2.23 Kasane: 8.7 mm (that is not a typographical error). Grouped gunome midare in nie deki, tobiyaki, ashi iri, in the lower half of the blade, changing to hiro suguba notare midare in the front of the blade, nado. There are two significant hakobori (see picture). The boshi appears to be chu maru with hakikaki. The blade is too dirty to read the jigane clearly, but appears to be a tight itame (a safe guess for shinshinto). There are two small fukure.
The tsuka is intact with large copper water dragon menuki and an iron fuchi-kashira that appears to be Soten work. There is a very good tosho tsuba with abundant tekotsu. 8.35 cm x 8.25 cm x 3.5 mm. The white museum catalog number can be removed with a little paint remover. The habaki is good shakudo foil. The black stripped and brown ishime saya is split and the kojiri is missing. With sword bag. $2,750
