Naganobu Yoroidoshi

An ubu yoroidoshi, signed sanji mei Naganobu Saku. Hawatare: 1 shaku 6 bu (26.06 cm or 10.26"). Motohaba: 2.68 cm. Kasane: 9 mm. Hirazukure, iroi mune, very slight uchizori. Gunome ko midare, togare, ha-nie, kinsuji. Deep, soft ashi iri, more prominent toward to machi. Nado. The jigane is a lively, moist ko itame some nagare, hada tatsu, ji nie and chikei. There is a faint bo utsure. The boshi is togare with a chu kaeri. Gilt copper habaki. Mounted is shirasaya with sayagaki by Tanobe Michihiro. He is rated Josaku in Nihon Toko Jiten - Shinto Hen by Fujishiro, with a sharpness rating of wazamono. Valued at 4,500,000 yen in Shibata's Toko Taikan, and listed with a double square in Nihonto Meikan. NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon kanteisho.
Period koshirae is in need of restoration. Iron fuchi-kashira, tsuba, koiguchi, and kurikata en suite. The tsuba is two piece, half being part of the fuchi, the other half being part of the koiguchi, so this could properly be considered an aiguchi mount. The menuki are missing, and there is damage to the saya as pictured.
Takahashi Naganobu was active around Tempo (1830 - 1844) in Musashi province. He is the seventeenth generation Wakashu Fuyuhiro. He was of the Chounsai Tsunatoshi mon, and his works resemble those of Tsunatoshi. He signed many works, Fuyuhiro. His yasuri mei katte agari, the reverse of ordinary yasuri mei, and difficult for anyone who was not left handed.
