An excellent Nara brass plate tsuba, fine sukashi with multiple metal inlays. Very few of these examples were signed, which indicates that they were Machibori work of the Edo Nara group, circa 1800. For similar examples see Haynes catalog 10, #165 & #166. Both estimated to bring $900 to $1,000 in 1984. 7.38 cm x 7 cm x 4.3 mm. $1,400
