Onin Nagamaki Tsuba
TS0074
sold
An Onin tsuba altered for mounting on a nagamaki. 8.23 cm high, .25 cm wide at the rim. Onin tsuba were orignally called Heianjo, but because the style was around Onin jidai (1467 - 1469). There are thought to have come from the Kyoto-Osaka area. This style is the classic suemon ten zogan, with a mon sukashi. It appears to have been made without hitsuana. This tsuba is in wonderful condition with almost all of the brass zogan and original lacquer intact. Were it not that this tsuba had been mounted on a nagamaki, this would be as good an example as I have ever seen. Boxed $1,100
