Red Copper Tsuba

K0082

SOLD

A small red copper tsuba with shinchu inlay of tea ceremony utensils, and katakiri vines and flowers on the reverse.   Tapered to the edge.  Likely an early Umetada piece, around beginning of Edo.  Unlike some tsuba where the difference in color is an artifact of photography, this is actually of a different tone, resulting from being is a box, where the face was exposed to the pollutants  in the air.  This needs some gentle cleaning to remove the verdigris and staining.  8.6.15 cm x 5.7 cm x  4.5 mm.  Much better in hand than in the pictures.      $150
