Sadatsugu Sankaku Yari

An ubu sansaku yari signed, Shimohara Yamato no Kami Sadatsugu. Hawatare: 5 sun 1 bu (15.454 cm / 6.o84"). Pole: 44.375". NBTHK green papers July 9, 1971). The pole is in excellent condition, Edo jidai. The yari in in good recent polish, like;ly just before or after shinsa. The plain functional saya speaks of of utilitarian service.
This smith is not listed in any of the standard references, Nihonto Meikan, Hawley, etc. Yet it has NBTHK green papers from 1972. This, like a koto tanto that I owned, in the words of Dr. Sato, "has fallen out of the dictionary". $1,850
