Sasano Gold Book
B0018
A now out of print, copy of Sasano Masayuki's ground breaking text on early Japanese sword guards, which until its publishing, the mantra promoted by Satoh Sensei and others was that there were no decorative tsuba prior to Muromachi. A position ridiculers on the face of it, if you reference Nihonto Zuikan, vol. 7, which illustrates a wonderful sukashi tsuba donated to a temple during Nambokucho, or if you look at the illustrations of what samurai were carrying in scrolls from Heian and Kamakura. Nonetheless, this was a courageous treatise which flew in the face of conventional teachings. $150 $10 S & H
