An extremely strong and stout wakizashi igned, Bungo ju Fujiwara Noriyuki Saku. Shinogizukure, iroi mune, modest sori, chu kissaki. Hawatare: 1 shaku 4 sun 5 bu (43.9 cm. / 17.3"). Motohaba: 3.33 cm. Sakihaba: 2.39. Kasane: 7.2 mm. Ko nie based hitatsura, gunome, notare, tobiyaki, Muneyaki, ashi iri, gifu, kinsuji, nado. Itame nagare with some mokume mixed in, ji nie, nado. Mounted in shirasaya with a solid silver habaki. NBTHK Koshu kanteisho.
Early Edo around Tenna (1681). Bungo is next to Hizen province, where the Nabeshima Daimyo employed the Tadayoshi / Tadahiro smiths, and imported iron billets from Holland. The Hizen smiths incorporated tamahagane into tis namban tetsu, so their jigane differed considerably from that of the Takada. Takada blades where known for their cutting ability, and fine jigane. $4,250
