S0292
SOLD
soldAn important joint work signed, Tamba no Kami Terukado / Oite Seki Yoshisada Saku Kore. Hawatare: 2 shaku 0 sun 8 bu 2 rin (63.1 cm / 24.84") Motohaba: 3.21 cm. Sakihaba: 1.98 cm. Kasane: 7.1 mm. Narrow suguba komidare with brilliant habuchi, kogunome, ashi, fine bright kinsuji. The jigane appears to be a tight itame, chikei, but the stained down condition of the blade precludes an accurate description. There are no problems evident in the sword, other than the attempt at sharpening the front end. The red rust on the nakago precludes removing the habaki, but that can be cleaned when the blade is polished. Mounted in shingunto koshirae.
Tamba no Kami Terukado worked around Kambun (1661 - 1673), is rated chujosaku in Nihon Toko Jiten - Shinto Hen, valued at 2,800,000 yen in Toko Taikan, and given two pages in Shinto Taikan. He is of the Noshu Seki Yoshisada school.
There is no record in the Meikan of Yoshisada written with these kanji at this time. So this is either an unrecorded smith, or an alternate signature that has not been recorded. An important signature reference,. Unfortunately, there are two large fukure near the yokote.
A Large Tateware.
