An artistic ubu wakizashi signed nagamei, Yamashiro ??? Kuni ??. Shinogizukure, marumune, sakizori, chukissaki. Hawatare: 1 shaku 5 sun 1 bu 8 rin (46 cm / 18.11"). Motohaba: 2.9 cm. Sakihaba: 1.53 cm. Kasane: 5.5 mm. Hoso suguba, suguba ko-midare in konie deki, with a deep, even, and brilliant habuchi half the width of the hamon. There are three layers of well pronounced shiraki bo-utsure. The jigane is a mixture of itame nagare and masame. There is fine jinie and chikei, some quite long. Mounted in shirasaya with horn trim, with a copper habaki.
The dan utsure, masame hada, strong konie suguba, and high shinogi fit with the school of Zenjo Kaneyoshi. There is a Kanetsune example that has similar features.
This has never been to shinsa, and although the first two kanji are Yamashiro, that is part of a title, not a school designation. The high shinogi and strong masame hada makes this a something from Yamato-den. Except for the condition of the nakago, this is a high end collector's sword.
