Right out of the woodwork, a work by a fairly rare smith. An ubu utsushi katana by Ajiri Yasuyoshi, of the Yasukuni Jinja. Signed, tachi nijimei, Yasuyoshi. Dated Showa junana nen san gatsu kichijitsu (a lucky day in March, 1942). Hawatare 2 shaku 1 sun 5 bu 3 rin (65.25 cm / 25.69") Motohaba: 2.98 cm. Sakihaba: 1.96 cm. Kasane: 6.9 mm. Chu suguba, gunome midare, choji, ashi iri, nado. Tight jigane, almost muji. The heavy hadori, and the lack of sunlight makes getting a good picture of the hamon impossible. The mounts are WWII shingunto, with a couple of pieces missing from the scabbard, which also shows some denting. Faded brown/blue tassel.
