An ubu mumei tanto attributed to Yasuyoshi, mounted as an aiguchi. Hirazukure, mitsumune, sakizori. Hawatare: 9 sun 8 bu (28.2 cm / 11.125"). Motohaba: 2.68 cm. Kasane: 7.07 mm. Hosho suguba in konie. Slightly rough masame hada. Ref. Nihonto Meikan, double circle. Toko Taikan, rated at 3,000,000 yen. NBTHK Hozon kanteisho has been lost.
The red lacquer saya is frequently seen in Satsuma and Choshu. Black three string wrap tsuka, black horn fittings. Shakudo rabbit menuki. Hand woven sageo. There is one dent in the saya as shown.
This is from the collection of the late Tom Davis, who was a meticulous collector. So I am accepting his designation as the Bunmei Naminohira Yasuyoshi. $2,500
