A koto hirazukure tanto with the fanciful signature of Soshu Kamakura nin Yukimitsu.  Hirazukure, iroi mune. Hawatare: 1 shaku 0 sun 6. sun 6 rin (32.3 cm / 12.716").  Sori: 6 mm.  Motohaba: 3.09 cm.   Kasane: 6.3 mm.  Itame, o-itame, itame nagare, nado.  Nie deki suguba ko-midare, ashi, yo, nado.  Mounted in shirasaya with sayagaki my Hon'ami Koson.  Copper habaki with boar eye sukashi

This tanto is a production from the early Muromachi period.  The sword would benefit from a proper polish, and the removal of the fanciful signature.  That the sayagaki attesting to the mei is by Hon'ami Kosan, explains why he did jail time for false certifications.                                                                                                                   $750
