A finely mounted wakizashi signed, (Kiku Mon) Etchu no Kami Masatoshi, dated Empo go nen hachi gatsu kichijitsu (a fortunate day in August 1677). Ubu nakago, one mekugiana, shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaki, slight sakizori. Hawatare: 1 shaku 5 sun 7 bu 4 sun (47.7 cm or 18.78"). Motohaba: 2.83 cm. Sakihaba: 179 cm. Kasane: 7.03 mm. Konie deki, long yakidashi, elongated gunome notare midare, nado. Mishina boshi. Itame hada with fine jinie. The polish is lacking, having been cleaned up. Rated chujosaku in Fujishiro's Nihon Toko Jiten - Shinto Hen. Valued at 2,000,000 yen in Tokuno's Toko Taikani. Pictured in Shinto Taikan. NTHK/NPO Kanteisho rating it at 75 points.
Blue tsukamaki, iron fuchi-kashira with silver flowers and gold leaves. Chrysanthemum menuki in gold, silver, and shakudo. A stunning shakudo sukashi tsuba of chrysanthemums with gold veins in the leaves. Signed, Bushu Ju Masatoshi. Pictured in Wakayama, Tosogu Mei Jiten, Vol. I, page 315. Kozuka and kogai are missing. High quality black lacquer saya with horn koiguchi and kaerizuno.
