Saotome Tsuba

A large moku Momoyama or early Edo period armorer's tsuba, likely Saotome. Very thin plate with a hammered mimi. Amida yasuri design. The metal is more grey than black. 9.11 cm x 8.45 cm x 5.5 at the mimi. The plate is between 2 an 3 mm at the center and widens as it approached the edge, so that is some places the mimi only extends a bit over 1 mm. Good condition, boxed. $600
