Furukawa Genchin Fu Dog Tsuba
TS040
A Shibuichi tsuba signed, Furukawa Genchin (Kakihan). 7.4 cm x 7 cm x 4 mm. Silver gray shibuichi decorated with Fu dog and peonies in katakiribori and keibori. I have no idea about the stained area in the back. I don't know if it can just be cleaned, or if the tsuba will require Brian Tschrnega's patination. Fortunately, there is no damage to the plate. Ref. Haynes, Nihon Toso Kinko Daijiten H 00565.0, Wakayama, Toso KodoguMeiji Taisei , Vol. I pages 104-105
As is sometimes the case, nobody knows for sure what reading the artist was using inhis name. So while Robert Haynes reads this as Genchin, Wakayama read it as Motoyoshi.
