Gingko and Window Kyo Shoami Sukashi Tsuba

A substantial iron tsuba with the most abundant tekotsu I have ever seen. While the picture looks rust pitted, it isn't. This is all tekotsu. The plate is like new condition. A warm chocolate brown patina with so many tekotsu that it flashes silver in the sunlight. 7.65 cm x 7.02 cm x 6.7 mm. This Ko Shoami tsuba dates from early Edo, or perhaps before, as per Robert Haynes. $1,200
