Kaneiye Tsuba Attributed to Nidai
A rendering of the famous first generation Kaneiye's monkey reaching for the reflection of the moon, with hakogaki attributing the tsuba to the second generation Kaneiye. Eight sided moku, very hard metal. The hitsuana seem to be atobori, as the edges are sharp and the kogaiana slightly impinges on the monkey's arm. 7.966 cm x 7.5 cm x 3.49 cm.
Hakogaki: 2nd generation Kaneiye, motif of monkey trying to catch the reflection of the moon in the water. Rare work by this artist that every connoisseur would desire and not let go.

I don't know this appraiser, so I sent the tsuba to Robert Haynes, who disagreed with the attribution. So it is priced as a gamble. $1,250
